Wynne Evans is an opera singer who has appeared in adverts for Go.Compare (formerly GoCompare). He has played the character of Gio Compario since 2009, and has appeared as himself since 2019.
In 2019, Wynne made his first appearance as himself, in a series of ads where Gio reenacts car accidents.
In 2020, Wynne appeared in adverts for GoCompare, including 'The Voice', in which he reveals that he has sang the song for the past 11 years. Since then, he has also appeared alongside his alter-ego Gio.
In 2022, GoCompare rebranded to Go.Compare, and Wynne featured in the first Go.Compare advert, 'Just One Click' alongside Gio.
In 2022, Go.Compare sponsored The Voice. The sponsor adverts featured Wynne, Gio and Dot (a woman in a large green dot costume) as The Voice judges. GoCompare has also sponsored Family Fortunes.
Wynne appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2024, mentioning 'a certain advert' in his introduction video, a clear reference to the GoCompare ads.
