The Ad Mascot Wiki

Tongue Man was a character featured in a UK Fanta campaign from 2002-2003, designed to appeal to children and adults. He was created by Soul advertising agency and first appeared in April 2002.

He is a short, bald young adult who can stretch his tongue out to great lengths, especially when he's craving a Fanta. He was always accompanied by his group of friends, a tall lanky man who always wore earphones, a smaller man with sideburns on his face, a woman with sunglasses and a purple crop top, and a smaller woman with long red hair that covered the left side of her face.

In the first two ads with the Tongue Man, he notices something or someone selling Fanta but circumstances make him unable to obtain the drink which causes him to see random orange/yellow objects as tasting like Fanta and begin licking them with his tongue, much to the dismay of his friends who then find a way to buy the drink for him. The track Blazing the Crop by Rae & Christian would play throughout these first two ads.

In April 2003, Tongue Man returned with a slight redesign, mainly his eyes and head which were now much smaller. In the first of these new ads, Tongue Man and two of his friends are at a beach when Tongue Man sees some bodybuilders using tan in an orange bottle. He thinks their bottle is Fanta and steals it using his tongue causing them to run after him and his friends. They get away by using Tongue Man's tongue to grab onto a jet ski that luckily has Fanta on it. In the next ad, Tongue Man and two of his friends are out in the hot streets when they come across a van selling various Fanta flavours only for it to drive away but Tongue Man and his friends use his tongue to chase after it until they crash into a pole, sending them flying straight through the van with all the Fanta flavours and onto the beach with the rest of their friends. The music featured in these new ads was Way of Life by Stylophonic.

Tongue Man was animated by ChewChat gang animator Geoffroy de Crecy.
