The Oven Mitt was the old mascot for the American restaurant chain Arby’s from 2003-2005.
He was an anthropomorphic Arby's oven mitt who appeared friendly and fun-loving, taking his job as an oven mitt very seriously as he interacted with the human employees and would get upset and annoyed when they mistreated him, as they would often do.
Commercials featuring him were purposed to highlight how Arby's oven-roasts their food instead of frying it like usual fast-food restaurants. Comedian Tom Arnold voiced the Arby's Oven Mitt.
While serving as a mascot, plenty of merchandise of Oven Mitt were made, including kids meal toys and real oven mitts with the Arby's oven mitt's characteristics on them, these oven mitts were recalled in late 2004 due to "quality concerns", the material used to make them was not the right type to pick up hot food.
Despite Arby's hoping for the best with the campaign, Oven Mitt was disliked by viewers who found him annoying or too similar to Hamburger Helper so due to this and the 2004 recall, after merely a two-year career as a mascot, he was pulled in March 2005 due to losing Arby’s £100000, and Arby's has made no attempts to introduce a new mascot since.
