Gilbert the Grouse is the mascot for Scottish whiskey brand The Famous Grouse.
Origin[]
According to a 2001 documentary titled "The Famous Video" (the "Video" part being because it was on VHS), Gilbert's origins were also one of the first sightings of the Grouse. In the Highlands of Scotland, some Victorian sportsmen came across a Grouse. Then, a wine merchant (called Matthew) created a whiskey called The Grouse. However, once it gained a big reputation, it was renamed as what we know it today, The Famous Grouse.
