Trump was a mascot for job-finding website Monster.com from its inception as The Monster Board in 1994 until being quietly phased out in the late 2000s. He was created by the Noonan Creative Group.
Appearance[]
Trump is a large, green monster with wrinkly skin. He has a large mouth with many sharp teeth. He has tiny yellow eyes with red irises and black pupils. His arms are skinny and his fingers end in red claws. He has large, orange feet with purple toenails and matching purple claws at the back. He has two purple-and-black-striped horns on either side of his head and a series of smaller purple horns going down his back. He has a pattern of pink stars on his back. He has a short tail coming out of his backside. His nose appears to be part of a trumpet, which may be the reason behind his name.
Use in marketing[]
Trump originated on Monster.com's predecessor, The Monster Board, in 1994. In 1999, The Monster Board merged with the Online Career Center to form Monster.com. Trump continued to be used after the merger until he was quietly phased out in the late 2000s. He never appeared in any television advertising for Monster.com. He has however appeared in the Monster.com offices, on the website, as a costume character and as a hot air balloon. He was also used to advertise the international versions of Monster.com, such as Monster.co.uk.
After his withdrawal, he briefly made a return participating as a costume character in the 2014 Boston TechJam.
Female counterpart[]
An unnamed female version of Trump has been seen in some promotional images for Monster.com. She looks identical to the male Trump, except for a short pink hairdo, pink-and-black-striped horns, smaller eyes with eyelashes and pink hearts on her shoulders instead of pink stars.
