M&S Fairy

Fairy is a character who has appeared in Christmas and New Year food adverts for British retailer Marks & Spencer since 2021.

She is voiced by English comedian and actress Dawn French.

Fairy first appeared in the 2021 Christmas advert where she is seen sitting on top of a Christmas tree inside a Marks & Spencer store. She accidentally drops her wand, which lands onto a box under the tree covered in wrapping paper with pictures of Marks & Spencer's mascot Percy Pig on it. The wand causes Percy (voiced by actor Tom Holland) to emerge from the box and greet Fairy, who wishes him a Merry Christmas before showing him various food being sold at Marks & Spencer for Christmas.

In the New Year advert, Fairy and Percy watch a fireworks display welcoming in the new year whilst looking at food. Percy feels tired and returns to his box whilst asking Fairy to wake him up for next Christmas. Fairy wishes the viewers a happy new year.

Fairy returned in the 2022 Christmas advert where she is now seen sitting on a Christmas tree in the living room of a house, wishing to have a sidekick. Unimpressed by the decorations on the tree, Fairy brings to life a toy duck named Ducky (voiced by Dawn French's long-time comedy partner Jennifer Saunders). Just then, the house's dog (who Ducky is the toy of) comes into the living room and starts to chase Ducky around the room. Fairy uses her wand to grant Ducky the ability to fly onto a sideboard to escape the dog. Fairy then shows her Marks & Spencer's Christmas food.

Fairy and Ducky make a final appearance together in the New Year advert, where Ducky makes peace with the dog. Fairy then wishes the viewers a happy new year.

Fairy returned in the 2023 Christmas advert where she is once again seen sitting on a Christmas tree in a living room of a house where she brings to life a pair of reindeer shaped mittens (voiced by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney) after seeing them lying outside in the snow. The mittens tell Fairy of how they were separated from their owner; a young girl named Lily after they fell out of her backpack during a trip to the United Kingdom from "across the pond". Fairy then shows the mittens Marks & Spencer's Christmas food.

In the final advert, the mittens sit on the Christmas tree before looking outside and seeing Lily. Fairy uses her magic to teleport the mittens outside to Lily. Fairy then bids farewell to the mittens as they leave with Lily.

Fairy reappeared in the 2024 Christmas advert which also features her voice actress Dawn French. In the advert, Fairy helps Dawn get ready for Christmas.
