The Ad Mascot Wiki

Dorothy and Roger are the mascots for Mars Schmackos in Australia and New Zealand.

They were originally stop-motion animated by director Nick Donkin and first appeared sometime in the 90s. Dorothy is a woman who loves her dog Roger and when she wants him to do something she'll bring out a Mars Schmackos and say "I'll give you a Schmacko" and he'll do what he's told. A few other characters would appear in other ads and they too had dogs, but they were not the main mascots.

Dorothy and Roger's stop-motion appearances began to fade away sometime in the mid-2010s and their ads were replaced by a dumb live-action ad from 2017 where a man in a bizarre costume twerks to the camera, with Dorothy and Roger only appearing at the end with the logo. In 2020, Dorothy and Roger were finally brought back in CGI but made to look like stop motion as a homage to the original campaign, though no further ads with this new appearance have been made since.
