Alan has a supporting character in advertising for UK price comparison site Confused.com from December 2011 to May 2013, designed by Dan & Jason at Hornet's New York studio. He is Cara Confused's official pet dog and can often be seen with her and her best friend Bertha.

Background

Alan's debut was in "Nectar Fun Fair", in which he was seen with Bertha and Cara in their car, and later catching Nectar points with his hat, running under Cara's skirt and embarrassing her. He continued to be seen with the two until the campaign's end, and whenever he did something it would include ending up unlucky only to have Cara or himself resolve this problem, or flirting over girl dogs or some of the backup dancers, only to end up humiliated. In "Duet", it was shown that he could drive a car.

Until 2012, he was nameless. A poll was launched on Cara and Confused.com's Facebook accounts at the end of February 2012 for followers to vote one of thirteen possible names for him, with "Allan" earning the most votes on Cara's page and "Fenton" on Confused's page. "Fenton" ended up being the winning name,[1] but his name was officially confirmed to be "Alan" on Confused.com's website.

Appearance

Alan is a brown dachshund, with a shade of light brown on his muzzle, tail and paws. He wears a blue collar, a straw fedora hat with a blue stripe and sunglasses.
